About the Wilson Center
The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, a non-partisan research institution and living memorial to President Woodrow Wilson, is seeking qualified students for a part-time internship in the Office of Scholars and Academic Relations. This office manages the Center’s fellowship and internship programs and engages with external academic and research partners.
Internship Overview
The Staff Assistant Internship offers students an opportunity to work in a dynamic, research-focused environment in Washington, DC. Students in the Washington Metro area are especially encouraged to apply. The position is flexible, with hours ranging from 20-25 per week, allowing for accommodation around class schedules. This role may extend into a second semester based on performance and availability.
Key Responsibilities
As a Staff Assistant Intern, your daily tasks will vary, and adaptability is essential. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Internship Coordinator with intern onboarding, orientation, and support activities
- Supporting the development of strategic partnerships
- Creating recruitment and marketing materials for internships and fellowships
- Assisting in the annual Fellowship competition process
- Supporting the recruiting and onboarding of interns for other program offices
- Helping to maintain the Alumni Database
- Providing back-up support at the Front Desk
- Aiding in the organization of Center-wide events as needed
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to various tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- An interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Experience in graphic design (preferred)
- Interest in international relations and public policy (preferred)
Eligibility Requirements
- Open to current undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates (within one year), and those accepted into an advanced degree program.
- International students with F-1 or J-1 visas and proper work authorization are eligible, provided they have written permission from their university’s Designated School Official or Responsible Visa Officer.
