What is the Mediterranean Youth Water Hackathon?
Are you a young innovator passionate about sustainability? The Mediterranean Youth Water Hackathon is calling for changemakers aged 18 to 35 to tackle some of the most pressing challenges within the Water, Energy, Food, and Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus. This three-day event will be held from February 25-28, 2025, in Fes, Morocco, where participants will collaborate to design impactful solutions with lasting social and environmental benefits.

Real-World Impact
This hackathon focuses on developing sustainable solutions for urgent issues in water, energy, food, and ecosystems. The top three solutions will be selected for technical and financial support, giving them a pathway to implementation.
Prizes and Ongoing Support
The first-place team will be awarded €3,000, and two runner-up teams will receive €1,000 each. All winning teams will benefit from continuous mentorship to refine and scale their solutions for maximum impact.
Skill-Building Workshops
Participants will gain hands-on experience through skill-building workshops covering entrepreneurial skills, design thinking, and sustainable business models to help transform their ideas into real-world solutions.
Networking Opportunities
Connect with mentors, experts, and fellow innovators from across the Mediterranean. The relationships built here will continue to support participants in their professional journeys well beyond the hackathon.
Who Can Apply?
This opportunity is open to young innovators aged 18 to 35 who are nationals of Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Member States. Applicants should form teams of 2-3 members, bringing together creativity, a shared passion for problem-solving within the WEFE Nexus, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
No specific background is required—just motivation, a collaborative spirit, and a drive to make a positive impact.
