Are you currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree and engaged in compelling research within the field of bioenergy? If so, the Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP) invites you to participate in the GBEP Youth Award 2024!
The GBEP Youth Award aims to recognize and promote outstanding research conducted by students in the field of bioenergy, covering various aspects such as environmental, social, and economic sustainability, circular Bioeconomy, technologies, supply chain and logistics, societal practices, policy and strategies, and climate change.
Eligibility
- Candidates should be studying at a recognized research institution (i.e., matriculated students at the time of entry).
- Candidates should be within the age limit (at time of application) of 30 years old for bachelor and master students, and 35 years old for Ph.D students.
Applications will be assessed based on the following criteria:
- Validity of results (25%)
- Quality and clarity in the presentation of ideas (25%)
- Degree of innovation (25%)
- Relevance to the external scientific/development community (25%)
Benefits
This year, successful candidates will have the opportunity to present their research and receive their award certificate during a special session at the first-ever GBEP-YUNGA Bioenergy Youth Day, scheduled to take place during the 11th GBEP Bioenergy Week at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy on 17 June 2024. Additionally, awardees will be given the chance to present their work at other relevant international events organized or co-organized by GBEP throughout 2024.

How to apply
To apply, candidates must complete the application form and submit it via email to GBEP-Secretariat@fao.org along with the following requirements on or before 31 March 2024:
Curriculum vitae;
Documentation confirming the applicant’s status as an officially enrolled student, including the institution supervising the research;
A poster summarizing the research, which should provide a visual overview of the research context, methodology, results, conclusions, and its relevance to the broader research community.
Please note that posters must be legible when printed at A0 size (84.1 × 118.9 cm) and should include a blank white ribbon at the bottom measuring 10 cm. Posters will be evaluated based on the clarity of ideas presented.
