About FEDERAL ASSISTANCE AWARDS
The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, Japan is pleased to announce its Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program. In Fiscal Year (FY) 2024, we open these opportunities listed below for you to submit your proposal.
Purpose of Small Grants: PAS Tokyo invites proposals for programs that strengthen cultural
ties between the U.S. and Japan through cultural and exchange programming that highlights
shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation. All programs must include an American
cultural element, or connection with American expert/s, organization/s, or institution/s in a
specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives.
Eligibility
Proposals that address the key strategic interests below may be approved for funding outside the Notice of Funding Opportunity cycle.
- Security – Modernize the Alliance, which underpins regional security and the Indo-Pacific Strategy.
- Economic – Advance American prosperity and economic security, including through global and regional cooperation.
- Homeland – Protect the homeland and American citizens abroad by enhancing consular services, and law enforcement cooperation.
- People to People – Increase Japanese alignment with U.S. policy objectives and boost long-term ties that underpin broader security, economic, and global cooperation.
Benefits
The thirty Federal agencies responsible for virtually all financial assistance awards to non-Federal governments, private and non-profit organizations, and individuals are covered. Awards include grants (such as waste water treatment grants); direct payments (such as Social Security payments); loans (such as small business and student loans); and insurance commitments (such as for crops and home mortgages). Exclusions include international transactions, Federal wages and salaries, and goods or services purchased for Federal government use.
Total Amount Available: $400,000
Maximum for Each Award: $100,000
