MFMC provides funding for initiatives that promote drastic, broad change, with an emphasis on altering procedures and policies in both public and private organizations. The foundation’s top goals for the years 2019–2024 are to
- Promote and assist creative approaches to climate communication
- broaden the range of perspectives and accounts in climate advocacy
- support political and social forces that pave the way for radical change
Only applications that clearly fit within the foundation’s plan will be taken into consideration. On the MFMC website, you may find more details about the foundation, such as its bylaws and its entire 2019–2023 strategy.
Please be aware that the foundation will not review applications that are solely local in nature, that concentrate on carrying out neighborhood-level initiatives like planting trees, conserving forests, or adapting to climate change, or that mainly aim to enlighten the public about climate issues.
Every year, MFMC customarily releases six requests for submissions, divided into two categories: major awards and small grants.
LARGE GRANTS
MFMC is seeking projects in this area that are normally between EUR 20,000 and EUR 200,000, while larger projects can be taken into consideration. In the first of the two rounds of the application process, interested groups are required to submit a brief pitch. If the MFMC board decides the proposal is interesting, the organization can be asked to submit a complete application based on this.
TINY GRANTS
Under this category, smaller grants up to EUR 10,000 can be applied for through a streamlined, one-stage approach. The MFMC board will evaluate applications in accordance with its objectives and plan.
