Our Global Citizens Challenge is an engaging online initiative for young people that aims to improve involvement with the travel and tourism sector, bridge cultural gaps, and provide young people an opportunity to connect and collaborate with peers from across the world in a transformative, hands-on, and collaborative way.

In order to forge enduring friendships, acquire novel abilities, and effect genuine change, you should take part in the Your Big Year Global Citizens Challenge! Through our dynamic online program, young people may connect and collaborate with peers from all around the world in a way that is both transformative and cooperative. By taking part, you will learn from experts about future career-building opportunities and acquire skills in digital cooperation, social impact, and cultural awareness.
What takes place?
Included in the Global Citizens Challenge are:
- Interactive Hangout video chats with other participants are known as Penpal Sessions.
- Engaging Activities & Virtual Passports: Collaborating in groups with your peers in teams,
- Industry Speakers: outstanding speakers from the travel and tourism sector will present and participate in panels.
- International Action Hub is an interactive virtual area designed to facilitate collaborative work and immersive thinking.
- Every time zone in the globe is represented among our participants. As a result, the event’s design is adaptable. Between work, school, and other obligations, participants join at any time; some are so entertained that they stay online all the time!
Who ought to submit an application?
Up to 200 young people (75 based in North America and 125 from elsewhere) will be chosen. We are looking for self-driven, diverse individuals who are passionate, energized, and eager to learn in their work. People are not evaluated based on conventional credentials. We are looking for individuals who share our values:
- You have a strong desire to change things.
- You are keen to hear firsthand accounts of other cultures from classmates who come from diverse backgrounds.
December 2023: Young people from Canada, United States and across the globe from ages 20-30 can apply for the Global Citizens Challenge. We are also accepting nominations from educators, program leaders, and organizations to put forward youth who would be a good fit for this program.
February 2024: Young people from Canada, United States, and globally from ages 15-20 can apply for the Global Citizens Challenge. We are also accepting nominations from educators, program leaders, and organizations to put forward youth who would be a good fit for this program.
