Through postgraduate training in specific postgraduate study programmes at specific Eastern African partner institutions, the In-Country/In-Region scholarship programme in Eastern Africa aims to promote the development of university teaching staff in universities and build capacity for staff in the public sector.

Sub-Saharan Africans are highly encouraged by this project to travel to study in participating host institutions in Eastern Africa. For links to the supported programmes, the specific request for scholarship applications, and the host institutions, see the information further below.
Requirements
- Graduates and postgraduates from Sub-Saharan Africa who want to pursue Master’s or PhD courses in their home country (so-called In-Country scholarships) or in another Sub-Saharan African country (so-called In-Region scholarships) and have a first academic degree if applying for a Master’s programme or with a Master’s degree if applying for a doctoral programme are the target group for scholarships.
- The programme specifically encourages female applicants and candidates from underprivileged areas or groups to apply.
