Purpose

  • Building the capacity of national/Signature Program communication personnel to meet their communication demands will be the responsibility of the Director of Communications for Asia. In order to properly position Heifer in the field of international development, the Director will collaborate with the national teams to identify regional media possibilities and manage requests from media outlets. Along with overseeing the creation of a regional brand identity that is consistent with the global Heifer brand, the Director will work with the teams responsible for regional programs, national/signature program communications, and global communications. The Director will also work with the Global Communications Team, assist regional business development projects, and create and oversee reputational risk matrices.
  • We are seeking people who reside in any of the following Asian nations: Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Cambodia.

Accountabilities and Outcomes

A. Developing and Putting into Practice Communication Strategies (40%)

  • Oversee the creation of a regional strategy plan for communications (public relations and resource production) in the Asia Region, focusing on important stakeholders with the goal of raising Heifer’s profile and visibility.
  • Assist Asian country communication teams in creating and implementing their national communication strategies.
  • bolster the teams responsible for country communication.
  • Communicate with the Programs, Business Development, and Resource Mobilization teams regarding the final use of products, ensuring that the Global Communication Team is kept fully informed.
  • Look into market and industry trends to find unique and interesting topics or narratives to use in executive communications for the Asia-Pacific region.

B. Development of Content and Production (30%)

  • Oversee the creation of all materials required to enhance the perception of Asia programs both internally and externally, adhering to the Global Communications Team’s templates and Heifer International’s brand requirements.
  • In charge of overseeing the creation of a feasible timetable for the timely production of print and video materials for organizations, education, and promotion.
  • Write and edit instructional and promotional pieces for internal usage as well as outlets in the Asia-Pacific area. Write content for international channels in conjunction with the Global Communications Team.
  • Manage projects from inception to completion in accordance with Heifer International’s brand guidelines and templates by working with graphic designers to produce top-notch materials.
  • With materials provided by the Regional Knowledge Manager, do substantial content editing for Heifer’s Asia programs’ promotional and instructional materials intended for use in business development and resource mobilization at the national, regional, and international levels.
  • In order to raise awareness of Heifer’s activities in Asia, oversee the creation and distribution of analytical reports, success stories, case studies, best practices, capacity statements, and lessons learned.
  • Assist the regional staff members responsible for business development and resource mobilization in creating pitch stories and other communication materials in close coordination with MELs and knowledge managers.
  • Verify that permits and copyrights are acquired, and that every work has been appropriately copy-edited.
  • Acquire and preserve comprehensive knowledge and comprehension of all facets of Heifer Asia’s programs in addition to keeping an eye on regional developments concerning the industry’s hot concerns.
  • Develop important messaging, themes/topics, style/tone, target audiences, and suitable communications channels at the regional level by collaborating with senior executives and business leaders.
  • Utilize communications to create goods that will help the firm achieve its objectives.
  • Working with the Global Communications Team, identify, write, and edit a wide range of executive-level communications for both internal and external audiences worldwide. This includes talking points, speeches, letters, management memos, op-eds, client communications, and news and information pertaining to employees.

C. External Relations and the Media (20%)

  • Oversee the public relations firm for Heifer in Asia, communicating the company’s marketing and communication strategies and the needs of the region, creating plans for meetings with them, and starting other promotional initiatives.
  • Create and manage media lists for your region.
  • Answer questions from the media about information and interviews, and make sure that requests for photos are handled quickly.
  • Notify the Global Communications team and Senior Leadership of any noteworthy coverage.
  • Keep track of press releases, media alerts, and coverage.
  • Continually bolster Heifer Asia’s social media presence with pertinent messages and assistance.
  • Build and preserve connections with influential business and trade media sources to help Heifer’s Asia programs, major projects, and campaigns receive more attention from the public.

D. Risk to Reputation (5%)

  • Create and maintain an Asia-region risk matrix by compiling data from nations and utilizing the Global Communications Team’s methodology.
  • Give the vice president of communications regular updates on problems with the region’s reputation.

E. As assigned, may carry out additional job-related tasks (5%)

Minimum Conditions:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a similar discipline, such as communications.
  • ten (10) years of expertise in content design, writing, editing, and production for publications, media relations, and strategic communication.
  • exceptional command of the English language.

Desired specifications:

  • master’s degree in a relevant subject, such as communications.
  • extra coursework in public relations, education, design, writing, or international studies.
  • expertise in personnel supervision.
  • experience working in the field of international development.
  • experience working with non-profit and for-profit companies.

  • sensitivity to gender justice and to working with a variety of cultures and beliefs.
  • Oversee employees to oversee PR, implement, and distribute communications, as well as manage events, staff-driven communications initiatives, and internet and in-person communication venues.
  • Excellent influencing, negotiating, and presentation abilities; the capacity to collaborate with executives and senior management.
  • Excellent project management abilities, including the capacity to lead a team and operate independently on several ongoing projects.
  • Create and define benchmarks for effective communication. Create and track metrics to gauge the impact and reach of communications, as well as to pinpoint opportunities and areas for success.
