- For a full-time role in our main office in Silver Spring, Maryland, we are looking for an experienced Managing Director for Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, Learning, and Adaptation (MERLA). This senior leadership role is in charge of supervising, inspiring, and advising staff members to guarantee that several contracts are completed on schedule, at the best possible quality, and within the allotted budget. The ideal candidate will have prior experience managing activities and programming for USAID. They will also be a strategist with the ability to develop and carry out our business plan at or above annual targets, find new business opportunities, cultivate new clientele, lead or write winning proposals, advance an internal and external technical practice, and collaborate with a variety of subject matter experts to offer creative solutions to challenging issues. In close collaboration with our Executive Team, the Managing Director offers strategic guidance based on a current understanding of the market and our future, advances our ownership culture, inspires employees and fosters cooperation, and advances our successful management, operation, and reputation.

- Oversees the capturing and sharing of activity approaches, innovations, tales, and regular updates both inside the organization and on external platforms, hence leading knowledge sharing.

prerequisites
- A bachelor’s degree is necessary; a graduate degree in a related discipline is recommended.
- demonstrated ability to lead with at least 15 years of hands-on experience managing technical teams
- Successful management of USAID projects in the real world, producing deliverables of the highest caliber, and examining and assessing budgets that include costs, variances, accruals, and pipelines
- a track record of creating and carrying out business and strategic plans
- Experience leading technical projects in the fields of global health, MEL, KMC/CLA, OD, and PSE; additional experience creating materials for external thought leadership
- comprehensive knowledge of USAID’s systems, procedures, and market, especially with regard to health programming
- inspired by doing numerous things under pressure in a fast-paced setting
- outstanding aptitude for leadership and organization
- exemplary work ethic, business acumen, and adaptability and flexibility
