Overview of general position:

  • The Washington, DC office is a center of legal activity, with lawyers tackling innovative environmental law cases. Legal and policy interns usually concentrate on initiatives related to pollution, public lands, and endangered species, with a primary focus on legislative proposals from Congress and administrative regulations. Washington, D.C. is the location of this position, while some employees are currently working remotely.

Principal tasks:

  • analyze state and federal laws concerning pollution, public lands, and endangered animals in particular;
  • Examine proposed policies and administrative rules;
  • drafting policy comments and supporting other program initiatives in Government Affairs;
  • Keep tabs on the latest legislation in Congress concerning the Clean Air Act, Public Lands Laws, National Environmental Policy Act, and Endangered Species Act. You may also have the chance to attend meetings with staff members of the relevant agencies and Congress.

Domains where expertise and knowledge will be acquired:

  • In order to fight for the environment, clerks will obtain experience in environmental advocacy by utilizing media, science, litigation, and grassroots organization techniques.

Requirements and abilities:

  • To be eligible, a student must be a law student who has finished their second or third year of law school or be pursuing an LLM;
  • strong writing and research abilities in law;
  • Law students with a sense of humor and creativity are invited to apply;
  • It is preferred to have prior experience with conservation and general knowledge of environmental legislation such as the Clean Air Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Public Lands legislation, and Endangered Species Act.
  • Pay: $17.00 per hour
