The IAS Pharma recognises and honours individuals each year who have made significant contributions to the manufacturing and digital health industries. There is no question that the delivery of healthcare is undergoing a paradigm shift as a result of the exponential expansion in technology, which has made it more affordable, effective, and accessible.

IAS is organising an innovation challenge pitch session in the run-up to the IAS Pharma 2023 finals to help advance the development of creative solutions.

Innovation Types

  • Health care
    • In addition to the acute scarcity of healthcare workers, Sub-Saharan Africa carries a sizable portion of the burden of the world’s diseases. To fill up the gaps and improve access to healthcare in Africa, they are looking for innovative, disruptive solutions that are also effective, efficient, and sustainable.
  • Biotech
    • The goal is to enable significant biotech development because biotech funding is a major barrier to the biotech industry. They are looking for solutions that will immediately address the rising demand for medical technology that is suitable for environments with limited resources.
  • Digital Health/IT
    • They are searching for digital and tech-enabled tools that help link people to care, support, and treatment while also enhancing health outcomes at the primary healthcare level.
  • Logistics, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing
    • Lack of availability to necessary devices & products is explained by the widening disparity in Africa’s overall healthcare manufacturing. They are looking for solutions that can help the domestic manufacturing and supply chain sectors by fostering access to environmentally friendly products and systems through efficient domestic distribution networks.
