Africa is increasingly concerned about climate mobility, climate-induced migration, and forced relocation. Africa experiences a disproportionate amount of the negative effects of climate change, including floods, droughts, landslides, and heatwaves, although producing less than 4% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions.

A request for proposals for youth-led climate mobility solutions or initiatives from Africa is now being released by the ACMI Youth Forum and the Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM) Solutions Lab. Selected projects will get financing of up to $5,000 each. This new funding structure for youth-led climate mobility solutions/projects has been developed by youth for youth with financial backing from the Robert Bosch Stiftung. We support using young people’s ability to produce new solutions that support climate resilience and enable people to successfully adjust to the climate catastrophe. We also support removing barriers that African youth face in accessing climate finance.
Requirements
- You must be between the ages of 18 and 35 on the application cutoff date in order to be eligible.
- Please be aware that in order to be considered, you must be an African.
- Young people who are migrants or refugees and who reside in or were born in Africa are highly encouraged to apply.
- We advise cooperating with a registered youth organisation to submit your application if you are an individual or group without a registered organisation.
