The application period for Yale Young Global Scholars’ (YYGS) 12-semester academic programme, which covers everything from the humanities to the biological sciences, has opened. Participants will meet peers from across the world, attend lectures and seminars, and take advantage of opportunities across Yale during the two-week programme, including admissions panels and talks with Yale professors.
Scholarships are offered by Yale Young Global Scholars to students who can prove they need them. The online programme application also includes an application for partial and full scholarships, both of which must be submitted by the 2024 application deadline. It is advised that applicants’ parents or guardians assist their children in filling out the necessary financial information.
In June and July 2024, the high school enrichment programme will include residential and online classes.
They give out scholarships depending on the need that is shown in your comprehensive application. Last year, almost one-third of programme participants who qualified for financial aid got full or partial scholarships. Unfortunately, travel costs are not covered by Yale Young Global Scholars financial aid, and financial aid cannot be guaranteed to all applicants.
Eligibility
- Age: By July 21, 2024, the start of Session III, you must be at least 16 years old.
- Fluency in English: Be able to engage in a demanding academic curriculum delivered in English.
- Grade Level: Be a current sophomore or junior in high school (or the equivalent in another country).
- Graduation Date: Graduate in the Northern Hemisphere in May/June 2025 or 2026, or in the Southern Hemisphere in November/December 2024 or 2025.
- Participation of YYGS: become a rookie YYGS participant. You are ineligible to participate in YYGS 2024 if you took part in a session during a previous summer (2023 and earlier).
- Please take notice that you are invited to reapply for YYGS 2024 if you previously applied but were not admitted or were unable to attend AND you match the eligibility requirements mentioned above.
Yale Young Global Scholars’ worth
- A small number of Scholarships, which are Need-Based Financial Aid packages that cover the full cost of tuition ($6,300 USD) and travel expenses, are available from YYGS thanks to the generosity of contributors.
- You MUST have completed the entire online YYGS Application, including the Need-Based Financial Aid section, in order to be eligible for one of these scholarships (below).
- YYGS staff will automatically determine if you fulfil any of our 2023 scholarship eligibility standards as part of assessing your financial aid request, and will get in touch with you after decisions are made by mid-March.
- Reduce your application fee by submitting your application earlier. If the fee is too expensive for you, you can apply for a fee waiver to have it waived completely. Visit the Application Deadlines page for further details.
