Are you an amateur or professional photographer, or simply someone who enjoys the beauty of nature? If so, CIFOR-ICRAF cordially invites you to share your finest photos at their forthcoming “Trees, People, Planet” Photo Competition.

They are looking for fascinating photos that demonstrate the variety, beauty, and wonder of landscapes, woods, and wildlife as well as human interaction with these natural phenomena. This year, they advise you to focus on the issue of water, emphasising its significant function in forest ecosystems.

  • 1st: USD 500
  • 2nd: USD 400
  • 3rd: USD 300

eligibility requirements

  • Participants must be at least 18 years old to participate in the CIFOR-ICRAF photo contest. We advise you to utilise the photography gear that you are most accustomed to using. Entry is not permitted for CIFOR-ICRAF employees.
  • The author accepts a creative commons, attribution, non-commercial share-alike licence (BY-NC-SA) by submitting images to the contest.
  • The contributor guarantees that the photo was taken legally and that they have the right to use all of the individuals or other details in it by uploading it.
  • All images submitted through the competition may be used by the competition’s organisers in CIFOR-ICRAF publications and exhibitions at CIFOR-ICRAF events. When the organisers publish or utilise the contributors’ photos, they will give them due credit. Contributors are not authorised to use the images they provided for commercial endeavours.
  • Contributors who are employed by the media are needed to submit an authorisation form that has been signed by a representative of the media outlet where they work.

Rules

  • Observe the following guidelines:
  • No watermarks, autographs, or captions are allowed in entries.
  • A photograph that has won another photography contest will immediately be disqualified.
  • Submissions with kids or children are not permitted.
  • Entries produced using or assisted by generative artificial intelligence methods are not eligible.
  • Pictures depicting the purposeful abuse of wildlife will not be approved.
  • Images captured in methods that result in or have resulted in environmental harm by the photographer, including taking pictures in locations where people are not allowed to be there by officials or property owners, are not acceptable.
  • Pictures taken before 2010 won’t be accepted.
