The Foundation wants to make it possible for 30 million young people in Africa to start their own businesses and find work by 2030 as part of an ambitious new plan called Young Africa Works.
Through university collaborations that provide African youth with access to a high education, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme, of which Sciences Po is a partner organisation, will play a key role in this plan.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholarships are intended for students who exhibit academic distinction and significant leadership potential but who struggle to enrol in higher education or lack the financial resources to do so. They are primarily geared towards students who want to have a significant and long-lasting impact on solving some of the most pressing problems the continent is currently dealing with, notably in the areas of public policy and significant political, environmental, and sociological shifts.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program’s three main strategic goals are to give students specialised support, help them hone their soft skills outside of the classroom, and create a strong alumni network.
Eligibility
Those applying for the Mastercard Foundation scholarship must fulfil each of the requirements listed below:

- In the areas of public policy and significant political, environmental, and societal transitions, demonstrate your determination to dedicate yourself to bringing about change in Africa and having a real impact on the region.
