Job Synopsis:

You will make it possible for the IRC to implement its strategy as a member of the Strategy & Delivery Unit. We work on a variety of projects, from assisting the organization in measuring and enhancing its performance to finding ways to support our program offices’ rapid expansion. Your work will be widely distributed within IRC. In the end, we want to support IRC in having a bigger impact on the people we work with and support, which includes the more than 30 million people impacted by conflict and catastrophe globally.

The business will receive assistance with planning and problem-solving from the strategy manager. They will work in a small, close-knit project team that will dissect issues and swiftly iterate toward evidence-based solutions, forging alliances and reaching consensus as they go. Strong strategic problem-solving abilities, outstanding interpersonal skills, a high degree of personal initiative, and the capacity to function well in a distributed, multicultural, dynamic workplace are all necessary for this interesting role.

The Strategy & Delivery Unit is where the position is located. The Director of Strategy is the official recipient of reports, however the allocated project will determine how they are reported on a daily basis.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Under the guidance of a Senior Manager or Associate Director, oversee a significant work stream within a bigger project or smaller stand-alone initiatives.
  • Generate critical analyses that contribute to the team’s larger problem-solving efforts.
  • Produce evidence-based, user-centered solutions and insights based on industry standards, analysis, and close collaboration with IRC staff.
  • Apply structure to complex, unclear problems.
  • Oversee connections and work closely with senior and mid-level employees at the IRC
  • Assist a team in reaching decisions and reaching consensus.
  • When necessary, make productive contributions to the other team members’ work streams and take part in group problem-solving.
  • Provide and accept constructive criticism on a regular basis, and actively participate in creating a productive, upbeat, and efficient work atmosphere.

Job prerequisites:

Work and Academic Background:

  • A bachelor’s degree or its comparable
  • Three to five years of relevant work experience, with at least two of those years spent in a strategy or organizational performance capacity with steadily rising responsibility and a proven track record of excellence

Skills and Competencies Shown:

  • Track record implementing strategic transformation
  • The ability to manage several demands in a brief amount of time
  • Excellent time-management and organizing abilities; a track record of setting priorities and completing tasks on schedule
  • A track record of meticulousness and potent analytical abilities
  • Capable of organizing and coming up with innovative solutions for complex issues
  • Proficient written and vocal communication abilities as well as the capacity to communicate intelligibly and succinctly at all times
  • Excellent facilitating and presenting abilities during meetings
  • Proven ability to collaborate well with colleagues at all levels
  • Able to operate both alone and in a dynamic, cross-functional distributed team environment.
  • Capacity to accept faulty analysis and solutions, be resilient in the face of setbacks and shifting priorities, and react enthusiastically and constructively to ambiguity extremely skilled with the Microsoft Office suite

Preferred background and abilities:

  • Prior experience working in the strategy department of a multinational corporation or in a strategy consultancy business
  • Work experience in a similar role in a development or humanitarian organization
  • Proficiency in Arabic, Spanish, or French
