qualifications and unique abilities
- It is necessary to have a graduate degree from an accredited university in one of the following subjects: environmental sciences, biology, environmental policy, environmental management, environmental economics, or a field closely linked to those.
- It is necessary to have specialized knowledge and abilities in the management of Indonesia’s ecosystems and biodiversity, as well as a grasp of national and stakeholder issues.
- It is necessary to have at least 8 years of progressive experience in the management of ecosystems and biodiversity.
- Requires prior expertise conducting policy analyses and assessments. Experience with ocean governance-related law and policymaking is preferred.
- Experience working with Indonesia’s relevant agencies on issues relating to biodiversity is preferred. Working knowledge of poor nations and/or international organizations is a plus.
- Good connections with important institutions, particularly in Indonesian government ministries. Desirable: United Nations working experience.
- Being able and willing to travel quickly Adequate knowledge of computers. competence in knowledge and abilities connected to managing biodiversity and ecosystems
Languages
- The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. English proficiency in both oral and written form is necessary for the advertised employment. An advantage is having knowledge of another official UN language.
