responsibilities and obligations
Organize programmatic and operational support for the program’s CSO engagement pillars.
In order to support a programmatically and operationally coordinated approach to CSO partner engagement, communicate with all program pillars on their engagement with CSO partners and cooperate on shared needs and obstacles that must be addressed.
Under the direction of ACO PSMU and in cooperation with the appropriate RO and HQ teams, review operational requirements of CSO engagement and provide advice on tools, techniques, and methodologies for future steps.
Troubleshoot and offer advice on how to handle the WCSO engagement’s issues in light of the changing operational context.
- Make a coordinated and coherent contribution to WCSOs partnership strengthening and growth. Give technical advice on UN Women’s entire engagement strategy with women CSOs, including on engagement criteria, access requirements, negotiations, and lessons learned from navigating the field. Contribute to the resources and chances available to female CSO partners for advanced technical support, training, and capacity-building projects. Ensure that ACO WCSO involvement with other important stakeholders (UN, INGOs, donors) supporting women CSOs is coordinated.
- Promote the development and sharing of knowledge about CSO engagement across ACO. In order to organize, collect, and process information from CSO partners as inputs to various databases, reports, and papers, one must first map the current landscape of women CSOs in Afghanistan. On a quarterly basis, oversee and update the CSO partner matrix of partners and record important data. Create or assist in the creation of personalized position papers for use in internal and external interaction. Analyze trends, obstacles, and possibilities among ACO’s WCSO partners, and provide important knowledge products for internal and external stakeholders. Regularly monitor developments on working with WCSOs in Afghanistan at both the capital and province levels. In collaboration with the ACO Communications team, draft public information materials and briefing packets based on the data and analysis supplied. the gathering and synthesis of lessons learned and best practices from the involvement of women’s CSO partners in the nation, as well as the facilitation of learning from comparable humanitarian contexts at the regional and international levels. Analyze international best practices for WCSO support in comparable contexts to direct program innovation for WCSOs and inform the strategic direction of ACO.
- Support the Programme Unit’s Communications with your assistance. Develop and deliver creative, cogent policy and programmatic perspectives in WCSO interaction by contributing to policy documents, briefs, and other strategic papers/materials. Create partner spotlight briefs and program briefs that analyze the overall program’s results in a communications-focused manner. For CSO engagements for internal or external objectives, draft talking points, briefing notes, and PPT presentations as requested.

Education:
- A graduate degree in political science, international development studies, gender/women’s studies, economics, sociology, or a closely related discipline is required, or an equivalent qualification.
Experience:
- a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in reporting, knowledge management, and/or programming for civil society;
- an advantage to having knowledge in independent research, analysis, and/or survey design;
- Experience helping women’s civil society organizations in Afghanistan or other post-conflict settings will be advantageous;
- Experience working for the United Nations, a government agency, another multilateral organization, or a civil society group devoted to philanthropy is strongly desired.
Language prerequisites
- English proficiency is necessary.
- It is advantageous to be familiar with the other UN official working language.
