Summary of the position:

  • Service, Integrity, and Accountability are the three guiding principles/standards that define the IRC (the IRC Way). In addition, the organization follows the guidelines set forth by the Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (HAP) and the Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS).IRC Nigeria has a Community Accountability Feedback Mechanism to uphold and guarantee adherence to these values in all of its initiatives. One of the mechanisms is to use a toll-free phone system to gather community feedback. As a result, the IRC wants to employ a qualified candidate for this position.
  • Receiving comments and complaints about the services being provided by the organization from the communities where IRC works is the basic goal of the Client Responsiveness Assistance, which is accomplished through a variety of Accountability comments Mechanisms. The role holder will closely collaborate with the program team, especially in coordinating information flow from the community to the organization and vice versa. Through the toll-free system and other feedback mechanisms, s/he will gather community feedback that is then forwarded to the appropriate sector team in accordance with the organization’s feedback mechanism information flow system or, depending on the category level of the feedback, addressed directly to the complainant.

Significant Duties:

A. Gather community comments and inform the appropriate body.

  • Respond to tool-free calls, record complaints or feedback using the template or templates created for the purpose;
  • Assure the upholding and respect of the confidentiality of all information received.
  • to regularly stay current on IRC projects in order to comprehend the thematic and geographical regions of activity;
  • Understanding IRC Nigeria Community Accountability Mechanisms thoroughly and educating workers and others on them;
  • regularly stay up to date on IRC’s new rules and practices, particularly those that pertain to accountability;
  • knowledge of Core Humanitarian Standards, Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (HAP), and other pertinent international standards.
  • If it falls under her/his role as stated in the IRC Nigeria Community Accountability Mechanism document, respond to information requests or queries;
  • summarize the data and alert the appropriate entity in accordance with the Community Accountability Mechanism document;
  • if necessary, communicate pertinent information that can be used in the designs of new projects after receiving approval from her/his supervisor;
  • Clarify any queries sent to the Complain/Feedback Analysis Committee as necessary;
  • Excellent communication abilities and report writing experience.
  • perform a preliminary analysis and communicate the summary to the workers in the relevant sector (in accordance with the Community Accountability Mechanism);
  • attend workshops, bazaars, and meetings where lessons are shared; and
  • safely and systematically record the reports;

B. Overseeing and Maintaining Hotline Services and Other Accountability Mechanisms

  • Ensure that the monthly fee is paid on time to keep the system operational;
  • Maintain the telephone equipment and guarantee that the batteries are constantly fully charged;
  • Immediately notify her/his supervisor of any technical issues and keep track of ongoing maintenance;
  • Create a plan and routinely verify to see if the hotline service and other feedback mechanisms are available to all the target communities;
  • managing the suggestion boxes installed to collect input.
  • conceiving and putting into action strategies for successfully informing all project stakeholders about the Accountability Mechanisms

C. Carry out additional tasks as directed by the supervisor (—-% of the time)

Qualifications

  • a diploma in communication or a related field of study, at the very least;
  • Communication skills, developmental work, and prior experience in related fields are advantages;
  • able to safeguard the privacy of both individuals and information
  • Very good computer abilities, especially with MS Word and Excel.
  • well familiar with email, especially Microsoft Outlook.
  • Strong oral communication abilities in Hausa, Fulfulde, and Kanuri are a requirement, as well as working knowledge in English;
  • devoted to the organization’s system for reporting grievances and dedicated to the IRC’s values and tenets; and

  • Education: A minimum of a diploma in communication or another field connected to a sector or a sub-sector.
  • Work Experience: Working with complaint response mechanisms for at least a year is preferable.

Demonstrated Competencies and Skills:

  • Strong report writing, data analysis, and data collection abilities are necessary;
  • writing reports, collecting data, and analyzing data;
  • a working understanding of English and good oral communication skills in the local languages of Hausa, Fulfulde, and Kanuri;
