The Goal and Purpose of the Assignment
The data analyst will work under the supervision of the UNHCR Protection Team and report to the UNHCR Information Management Officer on a time-and-material basis. The data analyst is required to:
- Implement country-specific common data standards and spread awareness of them among allies, such as the IASC Common Operational Datasets and UNHCR data standards.
- Compile, combine, and evaluate different protection/displacement data, including PRMN and information components needed to develop standardized information products and put into practice data/information collection plans for baseline and context-specific data.
- Assist the operation in the analysis of data and information from the Protection & Return Monitoring Network (PRMN) and carry out data quality and consistency control.
- Assist in the training of personnel involved in information management tasks, such as teams responsible for data entry and collecting.
- Use the PRMN historical data to contribute to scenario development and predictive analysis.
- Assist the technical team in automating data flows to lessen the need for manual data entry.
- Encourage and make use of geographic data for the creation and application of maps in geographic information systems (GIS).
- Distribute UNHCR data to partner organizations and donors, and preserve Portal data and information in accordance with predetermined timeframes.
- Offer technical information management support for activities such as vulnerability screening, participatory assessment, and needs assessment, particularly in terms of data collection, processing, and analysis.
- Create the relevant forms in KoBo and ODK for the purpose of collecting data.
- Communicate with partners and speak on behalf of UNHCR in meetings pertaining to the functions.
- Offer suggestions and counsel on the technical information management needs.
- Carry out additional tasks as needed.

Following is what the Assistant Information Management Officer is required to provide:
- Assist the UNHCR Information Management Officer in gathering, averaging, and analyzing different protection/displacement statistics, including the PRMN and information pieces needed to develop standardized information products.
- Increase PRMN awareness among aid organizations by exchanging timely information products that facilitate coordinated disaster response
- Strengthen protection analysis to aid in focused and prioritized response
- Enhance data sharing to promote collaborative assessment operations with various parties

- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE.
The following credentials should be held by the data analyst:
- Strong data analysis, statistical, and Microsoft Excel, Power BI, expertise
- Experience creating reports and presentations for various audiences using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- The capacity to handle highly confidential and sensitive information secretly and securely
- Strong written communication abilities with expertise turning extensive research into papers that are understandable and well-written
- Proficient written and spoken English
Education (Educational level and fields of study necessary and/or desired)
Data science, computer science, applied mathematics/statistics, finance/economics, psychology, social science, or information management are all fields of study that require a university degree.
b. Work History
- 3 or more years of data analytics experience
- Experience working with a global or humanitarian organization is advantageous. A plus is having prior UN/UNHCR experience.
- Understanding the UNHCR’s protection principles and the UN’s IDP guiding principles is advantageous. knowledge of database management systems (MySQL, SQL Server) and data management R, Python, and.NET programming language proficiency are all advantages.
