Conditions of Reference
- The Donor Relations Intern assists the External Engagement Section’s Donor Relations and Reporting Unit in carrying out its duties. This division is in charge of fostering and keeping connections with contributors and making sure that reporting is accurate.
- By skillfully conveying the organization’s impact and needs to donors, the intern will assist the organization’s efforts to raise money, maintain connections with donors, and carry out its purpose. This job provides a wealth of practical expertise in the fields of international development and donor relations.
- The Donor Relations Intern will collaborate closely with the Donor Relations and Reporting Unit, offering significant assistance in a variety of donor engagement and funding analysis tasks, such as the preparation of regular reporting materials, the creation of fundraising tools such as the Global Appeal/Report, donor proposals, Concept Notes, and reports, the taking of meeting minutes, the creation of talking points, the organization of donor meetings, and technical assistance in processing and analyzing data.
responsibilities and obligations
- Collect information and create operational updates.
- Record and distribute meeting notes
- Collect suggestions for the Talking Points draft.
- Collect ideas and assist with the creation of the global appeal/report.
- Writing reports and donor proposals
- Aid in meeting planning
- Compile and evaluate funding data
- Monitor spending, forecasts, and proposals
- Monitor group activities
minimum qualifications
•Be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program or have just graduated (within two years of applying) from a university or other higher education institution that has earned IAU/UNESCO accreditation;
•Have completed two years or more of undergraduate coursework in a subject that relates to or is of interest to the UNHCR’s mission.
NOTE: A person who is a Temporary Appointment holder or a member of the Affiliate Workforce, or whose father, mother, son, daughter, brother, or sister works for UNHCR, is not qualified to apply for an internship.
desirable credentials and competencies
- An undergraduate or graduate degree in international relations, or
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communication or law
- A degree in community development, either a bachelor’s or master’s, will be advantageous.
- It is a full-time position with regular working hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday (a total of 37 hours per week). The chosen applicant will work with the team in the External Engagement Section at the EHAGL Regional Bureau.
- interns who do not receive financial assistance from a third party will be given a stipend to help cover some of their living expenses, including their food and transportation expenditures.
