Applications for the Young Filmmakers Contest are being accepted for the One Earth Film Festival, a production of One Earth Collective, from students in grades 3 through 25.

Topical Groups
- Age-related topics vary. Students in grades 11 and under should pick one or more of the following subjects to centre the movie’s theme around.
- Climate Food Energy Transportation
- Wildlife and Ecosystems in Waste Water
Prize Specifics
- The following prizes will be awarded to winners:
- Film screening at a special event in September, with a potential second screening at the One Earth Film Festival in March and at further connected and ensuing educational and charitable activities sponsored (or co-sponsored) by Sponsor.
- posting of their movie on the website of the One Earth Film Festival.
- Scholarship or financial award: Each winner will be given a monetary award appropriate to the grade level category. United States dollars will be used to pay out all monetary awards.
- Live action or animation in elementary school (grades 3, 4, and 5): $100 cash prize + $100 matching grant.
- Live action or animation in middle school (grades 6, 7, and 8): $200 cash prize plus $200 matching grant.
- Live action or animation in high school (grades 9, 10, and 11): $350 in cash plus a $350 matching grant.
- Live action senior year + university (1,001 university scholarship + 1,001 matching grant) (grades 12 or above through age 25).
- Middle School + Post-Graduate Animation/Stop-Motion (grades 6 through age 25): $1,000 college scholarship or cash prize + $1,000 matching grant.
- Live action or animation/stop-motion, senior year plus post-graduate (grades 12 or enrolled university students or older through age 25), Sally Stovall, a co-founder of Green Community Connections, is honoured with the Planet Warrior Prize for Creativity, which consists of a $1,000 college scholarship or cash award and a $1,000 matching gift.
- Live action or animation/stop-motion Post-Graduate (recent university graduates up to age 25): $1,000 college scholarship or cash prize + $1,000 matching grant.
- Matching Grant: Each winner will also be given the opportunity to choose the recipient of a matching grant in addition to the cash award or scholarship. Subject to Sponsor’s permission, the award will be given to a non-profit organisation or community sustainability initiative of the winner’s choice.
eligibility requirements
- Depending on the student’s grade level (up to age 25), the One Earth Young Filmmakers Contest is open to students in grades 3 through university and above. Students who have finished grade 11 at the time of filmmaking or production and submit an entry before beginning grade 12 will be considered entrants for grade 12, for instance.
- The Contest started taking entries from students outside of the United States in 2023.
- One Earth Collective’s staff employees and their families (referred to as the “Sponsor” in the following paragraphs) are ineligible.
- The form must be electronically signed by a parent or legal guardian who accepts responsibility on behalf of the participant and agrees to bind the participant to the rules if the participant is under the age of 18 or has a legal disability.
- All text and audible words in the film should be in English or be subtitled in English before submission. All communications with the sponsor, including entry forms and supporting documents, must be in English.
