The UNDP works in 170 nations and territories to end poverty and lessen inequality as the leading UN agency for international development. Context
The UNDP Communications Unit is in charge of carrying out the organization’s corporate communications strategy and contributing to the planning, administration, and execution of the Country Office’s partnerships and publication strategies, all of which aim to influence the development agenda, encourage public and media engagement, and raise political and financial support for UNDP. In order to effectively position UNDP as a development leader and partner of choice in promoting sustainable development, the UNDP strategically communicates to key stakeholders about its strategic priority areas (aligned to the Global Strategy), project activities, and impact results. The UNV will provide support in particular for the implementation of the CO’s digital communication function, with a focus on website and knowledge management, multi-media content development, social media planning and analytics reporting. Other public outreach initiatives like event planning, media relations, and knowledge sharing will also be supported by the UNV.

- The United Nations Youth Volunteer will carry out the following duties directly under the direct supervision of the Communications Analyst: Participate in, support, and help to strengthen UNDP’s online presence and active involvement by:
- helping to create the digital strategy for the CO;
- writing, audio, and visual content with a strong impact;
- creating written material for the CO website;
- regular monitoring of social media sites;
- Data analytics will assist in the impact report’s preparation.

- assistance with creating Terms of Reference for communication service providers. Support public outreach initiatives, take part in them, and help make them successful by:
- help in locating prospective alliances that can improve the communication function of the CO;
- assisting in event planning, public outreach initiatives, and workshops, conferences, and seminars;
- assistance in managing and upholding connections with outside partners like the media, implementing partners, and other UN communications counterparts;
- Participate in the United Nations Communications Group’s (UNCG’s) planning of cooperative activities;
- attending partner events and other outreach initiatives as a UNDP representative;
- assisting in the creation of communication products. Support and contribute to knowledge creation and exchange by:
- Identifying and introducing new communication trends;
- enabling the collection of results-based content to contribute to knowledge production;
- creation and upkeep of a database of collaborators, media, and other pertinent stakeholders;
- supporting the synthesis of content for communication, branding, and reporting;
- managing the SharePoint knowledge management system for the CO.
