The task at hand is to create a compelling video story that illustrates rural farmers’ ability to cope with agricultural risks and shows how this could be improved in order to boost their output and build more resilient agri-food systems, which would help the world’s population reach its sustainable development targets.
The documentary ought to go over the difficulties they encounter, their creative solutions, and the beneficial effects on their output and the long-term viability of the agri-food industry in their region and/or elsewhere.
The needs of women, young people, and other vulnerable communities should receive special attention.
Themes
- Enhancing one’s own resilience
- Helping to ensure food security
- Lowering of environmental impact
- Sustainable agri-food systems
Prize
- The jury will pre-select 10 finalists, from whom the three top makers of video stories will be chosen as the competition’s winners after the final round of voting. The order of the ultimate winners will be from first to third.
- The following prizes will be given to the 10 finalists:
- The first winning film producer will travel to one or more PARM/IFAD operational nations to get firsthand knowledge of the UN’s agricultural risk management initiatives and operations. They will also have the opportunity to work with PARM/IFAD direct beneficiaries to create a second video.
- Along with the first-place winner, the next two winning video producers will present their works at an international conference. These videos will also be promoted on the institutional platforms of PARM, FARM-D, and Africa 21.
- The names and profiles of the final seven finalists will be included in the challenge publicity materials, and they will receive certificates of participation designating them as finalists of an international challenge.

- Storytelling
- Concentrate on the individual or collective stories of farmers. Showcase how they have dealt with hazards including those caused by the weather, market changes, pests, or a lack of resources. Emphasise their tactics, such as crop diversification, soil preservation, water management, or the adoption of environmentally friendly farming methods.
- Local Situation
- Display smallholder farmers and draw attention to the particular difficulties they have in their individual environments, such as harsh weather conditions, market accessibility, a lack of infrastructure, restricted access to technology, etc.
- Innovations and solutions
- Examine the ways that smallholder farmers are enhancing their resilience.
- Showcase the creative strategies they have used, such as utilising cutting-edge agricultural methods, utilising technology, establishing cooperatives or farmer networks, or putting sustainable farming ideas into practise, etc.
- Impact
- Showcase the benefits of their resilience-building activities. Indicate how these strategies have boosted workers’ output, enhanced their standard of living, increased food security, minimised their environmental effect, and helped create sustainable agri-food systems.
- Inclusivity and Diversity
