At the University of Oxford, a sizeable graduate scholarship programme called The Clarendon Fund awards about 140 new scholarships each year. At the graduate level at the University of Oxford, Clarendon Scholarships are given out based on academic excellence and promise in all degree-granting fields.

Study level and field(s)
- All graduate-level degree-granting courses in any discipline are acceptable. This includes all master’s and DPhil programmes, including full- and part-time. The Courses page contains a list of every graduate course the University of Oxford offers.
- The grant is not available for postgraduate Certificate or Diploma programmes.
- Each year, about 140 scholarships are available.
Scholarship Benefits
All Clarendon Scholarships fully pay college costs, including tuition.
- A significant annual grant for living expenses is provided to scholars enrolled in full-time programmes; in 2023–2024, this grant will be at least £17,668. A study support grant will be given to students enrolled in part-time courses to help with non-fee costs. - The scholarships are often provided for the entire time that you are required to pay tuition to the university, which is typically the same amount of time as the duration of your study.
Criteria for eligibility and selection
- Graduate students from all across the world who demonstrate exceptional academic merit and promise are given Clarendon Scholarships.
- All candidates who submit an application for a new master’s or DPhil programme before the January admissions deadline are eligible for scholarships.
Application guidelines
- You will be automatically considered for a Clarendon Scholarship if you submit your application for a full-time or part-time master’s or DPhil programme at Oxford before the deadline in December or January for your programme.
- There is no separate application form for the Clarendon Scholarships, thus you do not need to send any additional materials. To be eligible for the scholarship, you must submit your application by the December or January deadline (5 or 19 January 2024) for your course.
