The Energy Transition Changemakers is a COP28 UAE Presidency initiative that seeks to encourage private sector collaboration in producing creative and scalable decarbonization initiatives internationally and exhibit ideas to assist enable and speed up the energy transition.

The COP28 Presidency is seeking projects that are currently under development or in operation from all over the world that have overcome obstacles using ground-breaking, novel solutions or approaches that have the potential to be replicated and scaled elsewhere, accelerating the just energy transition that benefits society as a whole.
Programme Areas
- All sizes of businesses and organisations are encouraged to apply, and all kinds of projects in the four sectors that qualify will be taken into consideration:
- Clean energy, renewables integration, and renewables
- Energy Savings
- Sectors with Low Carbon Hydrogen Heavy Emissions: Steel, Cement, and Aluminium
Programme Advantages
- The best initiatives will be chosen as Energy Transition Changemakers after the application and review process, and company/organization executives will have the chance to showcase their work to an audience in separate sessions devoted to each of the four sectors. Additionally, these executives will take part in a ceremony honouring all the Changemakers from the four industries. These activities will take place on December 5 at Expo City Dubai during COP28 UAE.
eligibility
- They are looking for initiatives that meet the following requirements to be named a COP28 Energy Transition Changemaker:
- Innovative responses
- Innovative strategies and business models, such as novel financing techniques, solutions to policy barriers, increased community involvement, successful action outcomes, grid connections, and offtake agreements, have all been used to overcome obstacles and speed up progress.
- Technological innovation that uses new technology, improves processes, or both.
- Large-scale solutions
- Scalable solutions that could be implemented internationally in other new and ongoing projects
- Projects that: Are now under development (may be pre-FID), or have achieved initial commercial operations this year (2023).
- Have overcome significant obstacles to present convincing solutions, such as financing, offtake agreements, procurement, and permits.
- Are measurable contributors to the reduction of emissions and carbon dioxide emissions.
- The applicant must own stock in the project(s) being proposed.
