Applications are now accepted for the annual DRG Photo Contest, which is sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and aims to advance, defend, and enhance democratic, human rights, and ethical governance throughout the world.

Photos taken in connection with DRG include, but are not limited to:
- Summit for Democracy, Transparency, and Youth. Anti-Corruption, Accountability, Civil Society, Climate Change and DRG, Community Mobilising, Democratic Reformers, Digital Democracy/Technology, Countering Trafficking in Persons, Elections, Gender, Global Labour, Human Rights, Information Integrity, Integration, Inclusion, Media, People-Centered Justice, Rule of Law.
- You are expressly forbidden from submitting images of meetings or presentations.
- Winners and finalists will be featured (and voted on) at the November 2023 DRG Global Gathering, as well as on a variety of internal and external USAID websites, publications, and products.
Rules for Contest
- They will accept: Digital photos with a resolution of at least 1024 pixels (long or broad) and a quality of at least 300 pixels per inch. Please send photos in JPG or JPEG format with the highest resolution (at least 1MB). Please provide only level 7 or above compressed photographs if you are using Photoshop. Scanned images will be acceptable in specific circumstances.
- The photographer’s name and, if necessary, their association with an organisation must be mentioned in the photo description.
- A detailed caption that describes the people in the picture, what they are doing, and how it links to USAID’s activities (and may mention older programmes that have been carried out beyond USAID’s original funding).
- The city and nation where it was taken, as well as the approximate month, day, and year that photo was taken.
- A person may enter up to five times.
Send only the photo file(s), please. A separate document with captions is acceptable.

- By submitting a photo to this contest, you: State that the photo is your original creation (or was submitted with permission) and that you own the copyright to it.
- Declare that the image may be published in accordance with the terms of the photo contest rules, and that you have permission (written, verbal, or otherwise) to use the visual image of any identifiable person or structure in the image for entry into the competition.
- By granting reproduction rights to USAID, you authorise the organisation to use your photo for competition-related reasons as well as for future reprints on literature, websites, and other materials (photos will be credited as necessary).
