The humanitarian community now has a platform to reach refugees, asylum seekers, and communities affected by crises all around the world thanks to Signpost, an innovative internet effort. In order to meet the information needs in Kakuma, Hagadera (Dabaab), and Nairobi, Julisha.info participates in the global Signpost effort. Julisha.Info promotes a deeper sense of community, more trust, and, most importantly, greater utility for its users. It is a helpful informational resource for those in need.
Job Summary
A Senior Editorial Officer will have direct oversight over the IRC Moderator who will be headquartered in Hagadera. Every day, the Moderator will be expected to interact with Julisha.Info users and respond to their comments, mails, and inquiries.
Significant Duties:
- Participate in online discussions with users in accordance with the rules.
- Respond to messages and remarks made about Julisha.Social media channels for information with the assistance of the Signpost team and guidelines for moderation.
- Develop thorough, verified, well-researched responses in collaboration with senior editorial officers, roving service mapping officers, protection managers, and protection teams.
- Provide users with information on where and how to obtain services in connection to the available service mapping information, linking or supporting them as needed.
- Write a review of the month’s communications (including post answers, conversation trends, and information gaps) and provide feedback on notable and representative comments.
- Continuously communicate your thoughts, suggestions, cultural awareness, contextual knowledge, and learning with the rest of the team.
- To inform the development of future content, analyse the information gaps among the impacted populations.
- Maintain a current understanding of all newly released information and, if necessary, attend regular training sessions.
- Analyse and keep track of Julisha information requests.In order to increase the efficiency of the program’s communication strategies and operations, information social media channels are used to identify trends and/or problems and to suggest remedies and suggestions.

- To escalate any communications from at-risk cases to the Protection team, adhere to the protocol.

Qualifications
- At least 30 words per minute when typing
- Understanding with social media sites like Facebook
- Work experience with content management systems (CMS) like Zendesk
- The capacity to behave judiciously, morally, and diplomatically
- An awareness of the value and importance of precise information, as well as the capacity to use sound judgement to ensure that all of the responses are correct.
- High emotional quotient
Education:
A diploma or advanced technical credentials in the respective fields (such as media, journalism, or communication).
Language Abilities
English language proficiency and advanced Kiswahili language proficiency. Language proficiency in Somali or Arabic is a distinct benefit.
Preferred Experience
- Dealing with displaced people, asylum seekers, refugees, and host communities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and an overall ability to be clear and precise in all conversations.
- At least one year of experience dealing with social media sites, such as Facebook.
- Strong time-management and organisational skills; a track record of setting priorities and completing tasks on schedule
- Ability to operate both individually and as part of a dynamic, cross-functional team, along with strong analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Competent with the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to collaborate productively with stakeholders across all levels
- Basic familiarity with digital design
