Application deadline: January 2, 2024 | FASPE BUSINESS FELLOWSHIP
FASPE is a two-week intense study program in leadership ethics and professional ethics. FASPE is not a course on the Holocaust nor is it a genocide prevention initiative. The program is instead intended to push Fellows to critically analyze ideas, modern advancements, and problems that generate ethical questions in their professions in the contemporary environments in which they operate.

Details
FASPE Business urges its Fellows to understand their need to lead ethically in their professional lives. The first part of FASPE looks at the decisions and actions made by German businesspeople and executives in promoting and carrying out Nazi objectives. Then, FASPE uses this historical example to help Business Fellows understand their position and responsibilities as influential members of their communities and to help them recognize and address the ethical challenges that today’s enterprises and business professionals are facing.
Every year, 14 to 16 graduate business students and early-career business professionals receive fellowships from FASPE Business. Fellows spend two weeks in Berlin and Poland, where they tour significant locations associated with the Nazi era and take part in daily seminars taught by knowledgeable instructors. The curriculum combines academic rigor with a wealth of unstructured possibilities for creative engagement.
FASPE selects candidates from a sizable pool, and talks are enriched both within and outside the seminar room by the applicants’ varied backgrounds and interests. Business Fellows have the opportunity to enhance their understanding of the professional role through shared dinners, activities, and many interdisciplinary seminars when they travel with Law and Design & Technology Fellows. FASPE Fellowships are completely financed so that participation is not impacted by financial status.

FASPE chooses its Fellows based on their educational background, professional and personal experiences, leadership potential, and capacity to support the program and the alumni network. We accept and review all applications.
Dates for the 2024 Business Program: Now Accepting Applications from May 24 through June 7, 2024! Application deadline: January 2, 2024
FASPE Business Fellows look at things like:
- the participation of German companies and business leaders in the formulation and implementation of Nazi programs
- ethical conduct versus legal conformity and corporate social responsibility
- a business’s definition of ethics in the absence of a code of conduct
- the moral implications of business and technical developments
- juggling different allegiances to stakeholders including stockholders, customers, employees, vendors, and communities; identifying multiple motivations and ensuring that these motivations are in line with one’s own and the organization’s moral standards;
- and using these strategies to deal with ethical challenges in larger corporate entities.
FASPE Business Fellows are currently employed by well-known banks, multinational corporations, nonprofit agencies, and consulting firms. Fellows develop strong friendships and enduring partnerships through their shared participation in FASPE. Business Fellows take part in formal and informal networks that aid in career support.
Faculty from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and the Vienna-based FH Wien University of Applied Sciences for Management & Communication were involved in the initial development of the Business program.
