28 August 2023 is the deadline | The 2023 NPF Wharton Seminars for Business Journalists.
The NPF Wharton Seminars for Business Journalists 2023 are now accepting applications. Two fully funded scholarships are available from the National Press Foundation for the biennial Wharton Seminars for Business Journalists at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, taking place from October 16–18, 2023.
By attending classes taught by esteemed Wharton faculty, listening to guest lectures by prominent business figures, and engaging in a challenging computer-simulated strategic management exercise, the seminars give participants the chance to increase their knowledge of business.
Cost
Full housing, most meals, round-trip transportation, and tuition are all included in the fellowship.
Eligibility
Only journalists based in the US are eligible for the fellowship.
All U.S.-based journalists whose work exemplifies the best practices in business journalism are welcome to submit applications.

- Prior to commencing the online application form, you should save a brief biography, a paragraph outlining your motivation for attending, and a supervisor’s letter of support as Word documents or PDFs. You won’t be able to save and open the application again in the future.
- Include a 1-page letter of support from your boss. A letter from a former manager or recent editor is acceptable if you are an independent journalist. That this person is familiar with your work should be obvious. PDF, Word, and text files (.doc,.docx,.txt, or.rtf) can all be used to attach files.
- Include a sample of your work that was published in the period of September 2022 to August 2023. If the work is not online, the example can be provided as a web link or as a file attachment.
