Young people from Cameroon, Kenya, Namibia, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Togo are invited to spend three months in Germany for culture, nature, education, and sport under the German Commission for UNESCO’s kulturweit-Incoming program from the end of February to the end of May 2024. UNESCO project schools, biosphere reserves, world heritage sites, theaters, museums, foundations, sports and cultural groups, universities, and Goethe Institutes are among the locations where participants spend three months sitting. The project is carried out in accordance with the donor’s funding commitment. Throughout their internship, participants assist their assigned places, such as by organizing events, managing public relations, or carrying out initiatives involving kids and teenagers.
Conditions for Eligibility
- Participants must be of legal age in their native country (18 years of age or older) at the time of the internship and have their primary residence in one of the following countries: Tanzania, Togo, Kenya, Namibia, Rwanda, and
- shown proficiency in German (minimum language proficiency level B1 as measured by the Common European Framework of Reference),
- are healthy enough to travel abroad,
- Have a current passport in order to apply for a Schengen visa, and are interested in volunteering in the fields of culture, nature, education, or sport.
- Within four to six weeks, the German UNESCO Commission’s kulturweit team conducts a pre-selection. All applicants receive an email detailing the status of their applications following this initial stage of selection. Refusals or favorable interim decisions are now sent to the applicants who will be considered in the second round of the hiring process.
