Grant for a New Humanitarian Perspective is the name of a multimedia grant that Action Against Hunger is awarding.
Its purpose is to promote thought on the future of humanitarian imagery with the help of people concerned in order to jointly envision its future growth. They intend to do this in order to adopt a fresh viewpoint. a viewpoint that transcends typical representations is more ethical and fair, and permits a more balanced dialogue with the individuals depicted. This funding is meant to provide a chance to experiment with novel narrative and iconographic techniques. They encourage everyone interested in submitting a project to break free from ingrained norms, be imaginative, and take risks in order to contribute to group discussions about the advancement of multimedia language in the humanitarian and social spheres.

This award aims to increase the visibility of the people they help – and of their experiences – in the locations where Action Against Hunger operates in addition to showcasing the work of photographers, videographers, and content producers.
Benefits
The winning proposal will be funded with a grant of €10,000 and shown starting in October 2024. Additionally, Cristina de Middel, a documentary photographer and artist, will serve as the president of the grant jury and mentor the applicant.
Action Against Hunger will host an exhibition of the art created by the Action Against Hunger Grant Recipient for a New Humanitarian Perspective in October 2024.
Within the parameters of a budget established by the organization and the creator of the project being displayed, Action Against Hunger will cover the production costs associated with the exhibition. The grant recipient and I will collaborate on the exhibition design.
In accordance with the rights transfer agreement established between the two parties, Action Against Hunger may use the images created by the grant recipient for the duration of the intellectual property rights and any extensions, beginning with the presentation of the work produced in October 2024, for the promotion and marketing of the Action Against Hunger Grant and for the promotion of the Association’s activities, both digitally and in print.
In the two years that follow the project’s introduction in October 2024, Action Against Hunger may organize additional exhibitions in France and elsewhere.
The prints will be given back to the grant recipient after this point and will then be their property.
The award recipient may, at their discretion, donate one or more prints to Action Against Hunger for the purpose of promoting the grant or for an upcoming show that will feature numerous grant recipients. Unless otherwise agreed upon with the grant recipient, the prints will not be utilized for commercial gain.
Grant applicants consent to taking part in specific marketing activities by submitting their applications, particularly for the opening of the exhibition
‘Recipient of the Action Against Hunger Grant for a New Humanitarian Perspective’ must be mentioned in all publications and communications about the initiative funded by the grant from Action Against Hunger.
What are the requirements for submitting an Action Against Hunger Grant application?
- No restrictions on nationality or age (applicants must be over 18) apply to this call for applications; it is open to all photographers, videographers, and content creators.
- For this project, candidates must utilize their own tools (cameras, sound equipment, etc.).
- Employees of Action Against Hunger and their families are not permitted to participate in this procedure. The same holds true for the jury members, members of the technical team involved directly with the grant, and members of their families.
- Free admission is provided.
- The projects submitted will be evaluated using a number of factors, including:
- Innovation in the final project’s writing style and proposal format
- the project’s multimedia approach to image capturing
- Contribution to the reflections’ perspective-renewal and discussion of the function of images
- Relevance of the project’s topic to the work done by Action Against Hunger Alignment with the organization’s principles in terms of material that is inclusive, respects people’s dignity, and attests to observable realities
- is problem-focused
- The caliber and reliability of the applicant’s prior work
- Group projects are welcomed.
