For the NYFF Young Leaders Development Funds 2023–2024, applications are being accepted. For the 2023–2024 youth leaders’ development grants, the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF) is accepting grant applications from qualified people and groups. The funding intends to improve, assist, and encourage the development of the youth ecosystem in the nation. Individuals and organizations working in the desired topic areas will be given the funds.

Thematic Subjects

The issues listed below, which are in line with the youth agenda that resulted from the NYFF’s visioning exercise, will receive priority attention from the Youth Leadership Development Fund. It is essential that the candidates offer ideas or projects that have the potential to affect social change in their community and are consistent with the themes.

applicants are required to present proposals for youth development initiatives that serve the nation’s short- and long-term development strategies that encourage;

  • Development of Active Citizenship and Leadership
  • Policy creation, advocacy, and legislative and executive reforms at the national, state, and local levels of government.
  • Institutional resiliency, accountability, and transparency.
  • Identify and address key national issues: The following are the national short- and long-term Development plans that applicants are expected to support with ideas for youth development projects:

Promoting national values such as patriotism, unity, and empathy within the nation. Building equity, social inclusion, cohesion, and justice.

Grant

  • Grant size: $1,000 (60 recipients)
  • $10,000 Development Grant (64 Organizations)
  • $50,000 Catalyst Grant (6 Youth Hubs)

Eligibility

Individual-level

  • The candidate must be a young activist (between the ages of 15 and 35) with experience working on youth development projects that can affect social change in any of the theme areas.
  • The candidate must show that they have a solid grasp of project management, strategic planning, and implementation.
  • The applicant must show that they have knowledge of and expertise with team or community development that adheres to ethics and morals.
  • The candidate must be affiliated with an institution or possess valid identification.
  • Two credible referees must be provided by the applicant.

Enterprise Level

  • The applicant must be registered with the Nigerian Commission for Corporate Affairs or another appropriate state or municipal commission. It is required to present the registration proof. A cluster of unregistered groups may nonetheless submit an application if they do so through a registered organization.
  • The applicant must be physically located, have a corporate account in good standing, and have records.
  • When carrying out the project, the applicant must be willing to collaborate with the other Youth and the NYFF community.
  • The applicant needs to have a solid background and proven track record.
  • 2 credible referees must be provided by the applicant.
  • Applicants for Catalyst grants must be civic centers for youth-driven activities in the area where their organizations are headquartered.
  • Applicants for catalyst grants must be able to form partnerships with all of the states in their geopolitical zone.
  • Applicants for catalyst grants must be able to assist other organizations with institutional strengthening and capacity growth.
  • NB: Initiatives that use technology, media, art, entertainment, creativity, and related fields to support any of these pillars are also welcomed. Companies may also apply collectively as a cluster.

Application

The following are the application steps:

  • Pre-application questions to be answered
  • Submission of a proposal: Following the provided instructions and using the provided proposal template, applicants must submit a concept note or proposal that is no more than 3000 words. See Templates for individual/developmental grant proposals and catalyst grant proposals are available.
  • Section A: This includes the background of the individual or organization, challenges found, efforts to be carried out, and the scope of activity.
  • part B: The monitoring and evaluation structure for the project is presented in this part, together with predicted inputs, outputs, and outcomes.
  • Section C: The project work plan is contained in this section. It includes a timeframe, a list of the tasks to be completed, and a budget for each line item.
  • Submission of an identity document for an organization or person:
  • Grant for Small or Individual: NIN certificate or its equivalent.
  • Organization Grant (Development & Catalyst Grant): CAC registration, organizational document, and additional documents such a PDF containing a certificate of recognition from prior funders, SCUML, etc.
  • Information for the Referees to Fill Out: Name, Organization, and Portfolio, Contact Information, and Email
