The Hub offers a chance to highlight the wide spectrum of innovative climate action taking place across the continent, with an emphasis on ideas developed by women and young people.
African Union Climate Action Innovators Hub at the Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi, Kenya
At the upcoming Africa Climate Summit, which will take place from September 4–6, 2023, in Nairobi, Kenya, the African Union Commission will host a Climate Action Innovation Hub. This Climate Action Innovation Hub will offer a chance to highlight a variety of the audacious, cutting-edge climate activities that are being undertaken across the continent and that are in line with the particular ambitions and objectives of the Africa Climate Change Strategy.
This Innovation Hub will serve as a specialized venue for Africa’s innovators, particularly women and young people, to present their “game-changing” climate solutions and project ideas that help the continent become more climate resilient and sustainable. Additionally, this event offers a significant forum for the sharing of significant insights and ideas, as well as a chance to win over a wide range of possible supporters for creative solutions, including decision-makers and potential investors.
These large- and small-scale transformative climate technologies and projects may touch on any of the key issues mentioned in the Climate Strategy.
Among them are, but not restricted to:
- Renewable energy
- Agriculture that is climate-smart and sustainable land management
- conserving biodiversity
- Value chains with a sustainable economy
- Managing fisheries sustainably
- storage of water and conservation
- Recycling and the circular economy
- green transportation
- Climate-resilient building techniques
- Climate-smart towns that are resilient
Selection Criteria
- The innovation must show how it can improve Africa’s ability for climate adaptation, lower its greenhouse gas emissions, and/or increase its overall climate resilience.
- Applications from climate innovators at all scales are encouraged, but priority will be given to initiatives that operate at the community level or show a high level of social inclusion, especially for women, young people, and people in difficult financial situations.

Please fill out and submit the application below by Friday, August 4, 2023 at midnight East African Time to be considered for selection as one of the African innovators to participate in the Africa Climate Summit Innovation Hub.
