ROLE DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Financial Project Manager to join our team. The Financial Project Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the financial projects within our organisation. This role requires exceptional financial knowledge, strong project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully leading financial projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budgetary guidelines.

Requirements

KEY REQUIREMENTS & ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, including financial goals, timelines, resource allocation, and risk assessment.
  •  Budget Management: Create and monitor project budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting, cash flow projections, cost control, and adherence to client financial guidelines.
  •  Financial Analysis: Perform financial analysis to evaluate project feasibility, identify risks and opportunities, and make informed recommendations to stakeholders.
  •  Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal teams, including finance, operations, and project stakeholders, to align project goals and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  •  Risk Management: Identify and assess project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement risk management plans to ensure project success.
  •  Performance Monitoring: Track project progress, financial performance, and key performance indicators (KPIs), providing regular updates to stakeholders, ensure that no discrepancies or violations of commercial agreements have occurred and addressing any deviations from the plan.
  •  Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with client requirements, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies, lead on project audits and prepare accurate and timely financial reports for management and stakeholders.
  •  Continuous Improvement: Identify process improvement opportunities, implement best practices, and drive efficiency in project delivery and financial operations.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL COMPETENCIES:

  •  Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certifications are a plus.
  •  Proven experience as a Financial Project Manager or similar role, with a strong track record of successfully managing the financial aspects of complex projects; USAID & Foundations experience is a plus.
  •  In-depth knowledge of financial principles, budgeting, financial analysis, and forecasting.
  •  Excellent project management skills, including the ability to plan, organise, and prioritise tasks effectively, while maintaining attention to detail.
  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions.
  •  Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  •  Proficiency in financial software and project management tools. (Sage packages are a plus)
  •  Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  •  Strong business acumen and understanding of industry trends and best practices in financial project management.
  •  High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data privacy.
