The Bruce Page Fellowship is designed for Black journalists who are just starting out in their careers and are legally permitted to work in the UK. As a Bruce Page Fellow, you will collaborate with reporters, editors, production teams, and impact teams to look into issues that relate to the environment, global health, big technology, enablers, and bureau local.

You will gain experience developing and protecting sources, producing community-engaged journalism, structuring and writing articles, fact-checking content, and identifying and pitching stories through the process of researching and reporting a story as well as other training and learning opportunities. Additionally, you can anticipate having access to other specialized skills such as data analysis and financial journalism. This fellowship will begin in October 2023 and last for one year.
Salary
The annual salary is £27,000.
Eligibility
- Open to Black journalists with the legal right to work in the UK who are just starting out in their careers.
- While no formal education or prior professional journalism training is required, candidates should have some complementing experience in research, writing, and/or community involvement.
- The Bureau of Investigative Journalism (TBIJ) newsroom values cooperation, collaboration, and communication, and is seeking a someone who wishes to work in a collaborative environment rather than alone.
- In-depth research, proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets, community involvement, English writing, clear organization, effective time management, outstanding communication and presentation skills, and networking with peers, experts, and the general public are all useful skills to have for this position.
