Candidates should be youth-led, early-stage or growing agritech enterprises or companies with ground-breaking solutions that have a significant, widespread impact on smallholder farmers.
Eligibility requirements
Candidates must:
- age between 18 and 35 on the last day to submit an entry for the AYuTe Nigeria contest.
- Be a young person with creative ideas that emphasize the agriculture sector.
- Possess concepts that are technically practical, economically sound (affordable), environmentally wise (eco-friendly), and shown to be able to tackle social problems.
- possess a valid form of identification proving Nigerian nationality, such as a permanent voter’s card or international passport.
- Produce financial statements for the business, and actively participate in its management and operations as a founder or co-founder of the business entered in the competition.
- possess no prior convictions for any crimes such as felony, tax evasion, financial impropriety, or corruption
- Possess the ability to collaborate and form partnerships with other parties or stakeholders
The business must possess:
- been incorporated or registered with the appropriate Nigerian government authorities
- Scalability and the capacity to influence a large number of smallholder farmers, providing documented proof of an impact on their operations or income
- Possibility of generating jobs and lowering poverty
- Compliance with pertinent national policies and international agreements (such as the SDGs)
- a recognizable technological advancement that solves the issues listed below for smallholder farmers:
- Small-scale farming output
- revenue from smallholder farmers
- labor requirements for operations
- Resilience
- Information availability is a major competitive advantage.
Benefit
For the top five finalists, personalized coaching and mentoring will be provided to translate training into business implementation.
At different stages of the challenge, technical support is provided to develop the MVP and the startup’s commercial and financial model.

- $20,000 in cash will be given to the top three winners as prizes:
- $10,000 is awarded.
- Second Place: $6,000
- Runner-Up Prize: $4,000
Timeline
- The application window will be open from July 17 through July 31.
- The top 10 agritech innovators will then be identified, and the top 5 innovators will be identified in a subsequent stage.
- A pitch and awards ceremony will present cash prizes to the top three businesses.
