The Litigating Reproductive Justice in Africa program is being carried out by Ahaki at the moment. Through proactive, research-based, and cooperative litigation for access to SRHR, this program seeks to foster an atmosphere in which Africa embraces reproductive justice.

The program focuses in particular on enhancing the capacities of African people through our esteemed fellowship program. This call for fellows will start in September 2023, and it is a full-time, on-site position for a time frame of 6 to 12 months at Ahaki.

The fellowship is intended to assist Ahaki’s initiatives and offer chances for professional advancement in research, litigation, and capacity building in reproductive justice. Therefore, Ahaki urges individuals who are passionate about SRHR and reproductive justice to apply for the fellowship program. These individuals can come from wherever in Africa.

Personal preferences

  • The applicant must hold a master’s degree in one of the following fields: gender studies, public health, social sciences, law, or any field associated with SRHR.
  • The ideal applicant will have knowledge in SRHR research, litigation, and capacity building. Project management and implementation professional expertise will be advantageous. Candidates MUST have the ability to communicate clearly in both French and English.

Application Requirements

  • Candidates who are interested in the fellowship program must submit the following documentation: a thorough CV, a motivation letter outlining their reasons for applying, and the names and contact details of three references.
  • Copies of research papers.
  • Identification papers, such as a current passport or national identification card; a letter of recommendation from at least one referee.

Concerning Afya na Haki (Ahaki)

The African research and education center Afya na Haki Institute promotes sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), human rights, and public health. In order to further this cause, we picture a society that maximizes Africa’s potential for achieving SRHR, human rights, and health.
By encouraging Africentric learning and creativity, this is made possible. Through the involvement of Africans in health, human rights, and SRHR concerns, we hope to co-create and provide African answers to African problems. We front our Afrocentrism, which is based on the following four pillars:

a) telling positive African narratives;
b)Engaging the African regional and sub-regional institutions;

c) supporting and collaborating with African NGOs and
