Regarding the Grant
The BMJ Global Health Grant was created with the intention of recognizing the contributions of young, early-career researchers from low- and lower-middle-income nations who are working in the field of global health.
The applicant who describes the most innovative methodological contribution and who demonstrates the highest significance or prospective impact in furthering the field of global health is given the grant.
The candidate whose summary demonstrates the highest importance and potential influence in furthering the field and whose abstract describes the most unique methodological contribution to the field of global health will get the funding.
Prize
The BMJ Global Health award recipient will receive up to GBP 5,000 to cover conference registration fees, round-trip transportation and lodging expenses, visa application fees, and sustenance expenses for the days the conference is held. The BMJ Global Health grant organizers have the option to select the meeting.
Eligibility
- If you are a young researcher conducting global health research within ten years of receiving your PhD or a comparable professional qualification or training and working in healthcare, academia, or industry, you are eligible to apply for the funding.
- a citizen of a low-income or lower-middle-income countries as defined by the World Bank at the time. You cannot apply for this grant if you hold dual citizenship, and one of your nationalities is not from a low-income or lower-middle income nation.
- You must meet both of the given conditions in order to apply. As part of the application, we will need a letter of support confirming your present position from your department or organization.
How to Apply
- A 500-word maximum abstract explaining a unique research proposal and its significance to global health is required from applicants. The work might already be published in a peer-reviewed publication or it might still be unpublished. A statement (of no more than 500 words) outlining the significance of the applicant’s work and the reasons it merits the prize must be submitted with the abstract. Submissions must be made in English only.
- As part of their application, candidates will be required to submit a letter from their department or organization attesting to their current position.
- The candidate whose summary reveals the highest importance and potential influence in furthering the subject, as well as whose abstract presents the most unique methodological contribution to the field of global health, will get the funding.
- By no later than September 7, 2023, BMJ will send an email to the email address provided in the application form notifying the selected applicant.
