Task Description: | Scope of Work                                                                                                                                                        Below is a high-level summary of the types of tasks that the consultant will likely engage in during the course of the contract:The assignment will require 150 days of effort from August 2023 through June 2024.The consultant will be a core member of the CGAP MSE finance team and will provide support to more senior team members across a variety of areas. This includes contributing to CGAP’s continuously evolving strategy to influence market actors (investors, donors, FSPs, policymakers/regulators, sector support organizations) to make better use of technology to improve the access to and quality of financial services available to excluded and underserved MSEs. The consultant will be involved in the design and execution of the MSE project workstreams. The consultant will work with the task team leader and other team members to design and execute the workplan agreed with CGAP management. The consultant will be expected to provide support across all workstreams (e.g., MSE segmentation, MFI digitization, scaling fintech for MSEs, etc.)  The consultant will co-author (and, in some cases, independently author) MSE specific blogs, technical reports, and other knowledge products based on CGAP’s research and targeted at specific audiences with the goal of catalyzing the use of technology to provide improved financial services to excluded and underserved MSEs.The work may require travel, as deemed necessary by the Task Manager.Methodology and Specific Tasks                                                                                                                      As mentioned above, the specific tasks required of the consultant will likely evolve along with CGAP’s strategy in this fintech for MSEs arena. The consultant must be willing and able to adapt to a dynamic environment and have the generalist skills necessary to take on the above tasks effectively.Some examples of tasks the Consultant may need to be involved in include (but are not limited to):Conduct secondary research on inclusive fintech innovations in focus countries. This will include analyzing various business models in their ability to reach MSEs and reviewing various aspects of the ecosystem (including regulatory and policy frameworks) that are relevant for the effective functioning of the models. Support the team in identifying potential partners to expand the depth of the research and influence change (e.g., fintechs, investors, regulators etc.) and help manage relationships with the partners. Support the team with organizing and executing events, workshops and webinars in order to enhance CGAP’s influence in the MSE finance ecosystem.As needed, support the team with development of ToRs for vendor procurements and managing outputs by various vendors. The Task Manager and other CGAP staff will participate in the review and guidance of the work, based on the specific requirements of each task. |
