The inauguration of the Small Grants Research Program, which focuses on accessibility and inclusivity of early warning early action among last mile communities, has been announced by the Global Disaster Preparedness Center (GDPC) with great pride. This program seeks to improve early warning early action literature and contribute to the growth of the evidence base for more inclusive and people-centered approaches in cooperation with the Risk-informed Early Action Partnership (REAP) and in support of the achievement of the REAP Global Targets.

The program aims to help academics who have typically had trouble getting funding. As a result, only researchers from low- and middle-income nations can apply for the grants granted under this initiative. We do this in an effort to encourage and highlight the views of scholars from many locations and backgrounds.

The $10,000 scholarships for research must be finished by April 30, 2024. Any type of plagiarism in the research will result in exclusion from the grant at any point in the process. Original research is expected. We encourage researchers to approach their work with imagination and inventiveness, giving them the freedom to select the techniques and strategies they find most appealing.

We encourage you to look through the Frequently Asked Questions section on this page to find out more about the terms and conditions of the program.

Eligibility

  • All applicants, including graduate, post-doctoral, and faculty members, must be associated with a recognized university or research institution at the time of submission. Researchers in groups are welcome to submit proposals, and cooperation between various universities is strongly encouraged.
  • Any student research teams must identify an experienced supervisor. The supervisor is responsible for overseeing and guiding the research process.
  • Only researchers from low- and middle-income nations, including the least developed and upper-middle income nations, are eligible to apply, and their studies must be primarily about those nations. You may find the list of nations that qualify here.
  • Only one or two of the research questions under one of the aforementioned topics should be covered in an abstract.
  • The choice of conducting research in a language of one’s choice is open to researchers. The final research paper, though, must be turned in in English. The budget proposal should include the anticipated expenditures for translation services if an English translation is required.
