The program’s goal is to help graduates obtain the skills they need to contribute to capacity building in their home countries. And to become the next generation of leaders in their chosen industries when they return home. They are also expected to help foster institutional ties with Ireland by fostering long-lasting, beneficial relationships on a personal and professional level.
Program for Fellows in Ireland The Roger Casement Fellowship in Human Rights was created in Roger Casement’s honor, a human rights advocate from Ireland who spent part of his early working years in Calabar, Nigeria. While in Nigeria and later while working in the Congo, the Amazon, and Ireland, he was an early supporter of human rights. In honor of his humanitarian legacy, the Roger Casement Fellowship annually provides funding to a Nigerian student to pursue a master’s degree in human rights in Ireland.
