The UNESCO/Nestlé Because Youth Matter Initiative 2023 is now accepting applications. The “Because Youth Matter” initiative was started by UNESCO and Nestlé to give young people the tools and training they require to create and implement creative ideas that have a positive social impact in their communities. A call for applications will be issued for the project in Latin America. Future plans include for expanding the relationship to a worldwide scale.
They are seeking young Latino leaders of initiatives with a social conscience in the following areas:
- Reduction of disparities, encouragement of diversity and social inclusion
- Sustainability and Climate Action
- Wellness and Mental Health
- The UNESCO-Nestlé relationship builds on the ten years that Nestlé has invested in the empowerment of youth through its Nestlé needs YOUth program.
- The initiative assists children in accessing apprenticeships, traineeships, and job opportunities with the aim of helping 10 million young people worldwide to access economic prospects by 2030.
- More than 5 million young people have benefited from it globally to far.
Benefits
- Twenty grants of $10,000 each will be given to young entrepreneurs, leaders, and youth organizations to support their efforts in developing and putting into practice socially impactful changemaking strategies.
- The experts from Nestlé and UNESCO will provide training sessions and mentoring to grantees as their initiatives are developed.
Eligibility
- Open to young individuals from and residing in Latin America who are between the ages of 18 and 30; youth-led groups and networks having local or national reach.
- Spanish language proficiency is required as it will be the working language;
- The projects must be finished in nine months and put into action on a local or national level.
Application
The IMPULSO JOVEN – Because Youth Matter initiative will only be produced in Spanish, and the form is accessible to be filled in that language.
