The Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) This Is Cool Challenge 2023 is now accepting applications. A global competition for youth-led sustainable cooling solutions called the This Is Cool Challenge aims to provide such solutions for human comfort and safety, food, nutrition, and agriculture, and health services.

In their towns and nations, young innovators are already developing sustainable cooling solutions, organizing grassroots campaigns, fostering business and entrepreneurial opportunities, and promoting policies that are future-proof. However, in order to demonstrate their ideas, develop their enterprises, and have an impact on decision-making, young changemakers—especially those in the Global South—need access to capital, networks, and resources.
For youth-led sustainable cooling innovation, the This Is Cool Challenge aims to:
Identify creative, youth-led solutions that have a strong chance of affecting everyone’s access to sustainable cooling, and offer early-stage funding for implementation or scaling up.
Young innovators’ work should be highlighted on prominent platforms, and they should be connected to local and international networks of partners that can help them expand their ideas.
Encourage young inventors and partners to share expertise, and the two of you can work to hasten sustainable cooling for everyone.
Prize
Take home up to $10,000!
- One winner in each track will receive cash awards.
- One additional cash award for the grand winner.
- For natural refrigerants, there is one Cool Up Special Prize.
- Top 3 finalists in each track will get spotlight features, networking opportunities, and exhibition possibilities from SEforALL and partners.
Eligibility
Individuals or groups of up to five people may submit entries, but everyone who does so must be under 35.

- Sustainable vaccination and medicinal cold chain solutions: Cooling for Healthcare
- AI-powered cooling systems that will transform sustainable cooling Assessment Criteria
Submissions will be evaluated by a group of specialists from SEforALL and its partners based on:
Goal Alignment Impact Innovation Application Functionality, Scalability, and Implementation
The deadline for applications is September 15, 2023. Late applications won’t be taken into consideration.
