The Paradigm Initiative (PIN) Digital Rights and Inclusion Learning Lab Fellowship 2023 is currently accepting applications. Young Africans who are underserved are connected to digital opportunities by Paradigm Initiative, which also fights to preserve their rights. The organization seeks to affect their livelihoods through digital inclusion and digital rights projects through regional offices in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and elsewhere.

Through DRILL, Paradigm Initiative aims to provide a platform for cutting-edge learning about digital inclusion and rights in Africa. As well as act as a hub for networking and increased capacity. Fellows have the chance to integrate themselves into the ecosystem for digital inclusion and rights. The four-month virtual fellowship program will run from August 1, 2023, through November 30, 2023, for those who are selected as participants.
Responsibilities of a fellow
- The fellowship will need fellows to commit at least 10 hours per month, split between two meetings and other tasks during the fellowship.
- The fellows will be expected to publish their research and present a cause-related initiative on digital inclusion or rights in Africa.
- The option to attend and moderate a session at the Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum (DRIF) in Accra, Ghana in April 2024 may be available to fellows.
- On December 8, 2023, there will be a closing ceremony for the fellowship. Potential fellows who reside in Africa are eligible for the fellowship.
Benefits
- The chosen fellows will receive a US$500 stipend from PIN to support their participation in the Fellowship.
- Submissions from other people will be shared with the community for digital rights and published on PIN’s website.
- Fellows will be introduced to business leaders who will facilitate sessions.
- The Net Rights Coalition will offer fellows the chance to participate in ongoing dialogues.
- PIN will pay for the communications expenses related to fellow activities and give fellows chances to integrate into the ecosystem for digital rights.
- The fellowship will offer editorial, technical, and campaign-planning advice for reports and Policy Briefs.
Eligibility
- Early-career professionals with at least two years of experience as researchers, policy experts, entrepreneurs, or innovators in the fields of technology or society are eligible to apply.
- Fellows must be extraordinary people with relevant postgraduate degrees who will contribute new knowledge and innovations and receive exposure to the digital ecosystem.
Application
The deadline for this application call is July 12th, 2023. At the end of July, the selection process will be completed, and selected Digital Rights and Inclusion Learning Lab fellows can expect to start working again in August until November 2023.
