Deadline for applications: July 7, 2023 | FAO–ITC EWAT Investment Readiness Bootcamps for Young Women Entrepreneurs
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Trade Centre (ITC) are working together to implement the Empowering Women and improving livelihoods through agricultural trade (EWAT): Leveraging the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) project. In order to benefit from the opportunities provided by the AfCFTA in the agricultural and agro-processing value chains, it aims to promote formal and informal women producers, processors, traders, women’s cooperatives, and associations.
A call for applications for two investment readiness boot camps that the EWAT program is hosting in Ghana and Nigeria has been released. These boot camps, which last for two days, will occur on the following dates:
- Accra, Ghana, July 24–25 2023
- Lagos, Nigeria, August 10–11, 2023
Selection Standards
- The agrifood sector must be the focus of the micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME).
- The MSME must fall within the micro and small enterprise category or be in the beginning stages.
- The MSME must be run by women or be a cooperative run by women.
- The MSME needs to grasp at least the fundamentals of bookkeeping.
- The MSME has been operating for at least a year, and during the following six months, it wants to obtain financing.
- The business representative pledges to show up for both of the bootcamp days.
- The business representative attending the training speaks English fluently Benefits
ITC shall
- Facilitate the bootcamp for investment readiness.
- Organize lunch for both days.
- Streamline communications with lenders of money
- *The project may be able to provide transportation and/or lodging if the female entrepreneur resides outside of Accra or Lagos (this will be confirmed following the selection process).
- General obligations of the participant:
- The woman business owner is responsible for covering all transportation expenses to the event.
- The female entrepreneur must commit to attending the bootcamp on both days.
- The female business owner must complete all FAO and ITC evaluation forms. These forms, which are given out following the event, are essential for the project’s reporting requirements.
- If chosen, the woman business owner gives FAO and ITC permission to collect and utilize photos taken during the two-day bootcamp.
- There are only 35 places available each nation. According to the aforementioned criteria, companies will be chosen on a first come, first served basis. Each chosen company is given one place alone.
