The Youth4Regions Program 2023 of the European Commission is now accepting applications. The European Commission’s Youth4Regions program assists aspiring journalists and young journalists in learning about what the EU is doing in their area.

The Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) of the European Commission intends to encourage young journalists and journalism students to learn about the EU and Cohesion Policy and to communicate on European solidarity and specific projects that have received co-funding from the EU.
The precise goals consist of:
- Establishing the framework and circumstances necessary for aspiring journalists to specialize on EU and regional policy.
- Encouraging new media journalism to spread awareness of EU-funded projects.
- Encourage the use of creative media to cover the European Week of Regions and Cities.
- Strengthening the ties between young Europeans and European institutions.

Eligibility
- Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 30 and citizens of the EU or a neighboring nation;
- Take an interest in the activities the EU and Cohesion Policy are carrying out in your area;
- experience or education in journalism (up to two years);
- Availability from October 7 until October 13, 2023.
Selection Standards
Based on the following selection criteria, the jury will evaluate eligible applications’ substance and style:
- Originality (new narrative or novel perspective)
- The degree to which they are intriguing (capture the reader’s attention)
- How well they adhere to a strict methodology when conducting fieldwork and research
