The UNESCO Creative Communities Network (UCCN), established in 2004, promotes global collaboration among communities that make investments in culture and creativity as drivers of sustainable development. Cities in the Network are creative and strategic, with a wide range of activities that have beneficial economic, social, cultural, and environmental effects. These initiatives span seven creative fields: crafts and folk art, design, film, gastronomy, literature, media arts, and music.

The UCCN seeks to realize the enabling and transformative power of culture and creativity in the development of resilient, sustainable, and future-proof cities, thereby assisting in the localization of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The UCCN has nearly 300 member cities worldwide.
All UNESCO Member States and Associate Members are welcome to submit applications for the 2023 UCCN Call for Applications. The UCCN Call’s particular Cooperation Framework is one more way that UNESCO is bolstering the geographic and cultural variety of its Creative Cities Network.
By June 30, 2023 (midnight CET), interested cities are urged to submit their applications using the official standard Form. Applications that are incomplete, sent after the deadline, or sent in a different format won’t be taken into consideration.
