All upcoming eco-artists are invited! The Global RCE Service Center is seeking your artistic creations that show how you or your neighborhood are pursuing sustainable consumption and production.
The RCE Youth Art Challenge 2023: From Waste to Art is now accepting entries through the Global RCE Service Centre at the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS), in collaboration with UNESCO. Anyone worldwide who is 35 or younger may participate in the challenge. This is a chance to produce artwork that will encourage people everywhere to utilize resources more wisely, to produce less waste, and ultimately to switch to sustainable consumption and production.

Programming Goals
raise awareness of the problems caused by global waste and unsustainable practices of production and consumption.
Give youth viewpoints on the need of adopting sustainable habits.
bring about an awareness of how ESD may be used to take action in support of the SDGs, particularly with regard to sustainable consumption and production.
Eligibility
- By August 15, 2023, participants must be 35 years of age or younger.
- There is a three entry maximum per participant.
- The artwork cannot have already been entered into another competition.
- The artwork must be the participant’s unique creation and cannot contain any symbols, images, or other works protected by copyright, such as character or brand logos.
- This competition is not open to corporations.
The following age categories for submissions will be assessed:
- 15 years or younger, 16 to 25,
- 26-35 years
- This is your chance to share your artistic creation with the world and encourage others to take action in support of the SDGs.
Submission Requirements
Participants who meet the aforementioned qualifying requirements also need to comply with the following submission requirements:
- All contributions must be static (no animations) and limited to one frame, regardless of the type of artwork they are (e.g., photographs, drawings, paintings, sketches, murals, etc other).
- When possible, submissions should have a 16:9 landscape aspect ratio (768 pixels wide by 432 pixels high, for example).
- The artwork that is submitted must be the author’s unique creation.
- Make sure the image you upload is viewable and clear.
- The following forms are permitted for submissions: Downloadable formats must be PDF, JPG, or PNG. You can optionally include a video; only MP4 files under 100 MB in size are acceptable.
- Captions may be submitted in any language, however if they are not submitted in English, the organizers may get in touch with the submitter to validate translations.
Application
- Submissions will be evaluated on their originality, creativity, artistic quality, and relevance to sustainable production and consumption.
- It should be noted that by taking part in this challenge, all participants consent to having their name, artwork, and captions used in connection with this challenge on websites, social media platforms, and email newsletters.
