The Africa-Europe Foundation’s (AEF) New Partners Initiative will offer support and knowledge to create youth-led grassroots activities targeted at introducing new audiences to Africa-Europe cooperation. The first cycle focuses on the ocean and the blue economy.

AEF combines access to mentorship and knowledge from AEF’s international network with microawards of up to 5000 euros. Grassroots projects, seminars, town halls, and gatherings can be used as supported initiatives to increase the exposure and effect of programs in key areas for collaboration between Africa and Europe.
The Partners Initiative will focus on “Blue Economy and Ocean Governance” for its first cycle in 2023. To be more precise:
- Innovation and entrepreneurship by young people in the ocean/blue economy
- Award winners will join a network of experts and leaders working across Africa, Europe, and internationally, and will have the opportunity to work with AEF in assisting to shape policy at the cross-continental and multilateral Level. Partnership initiatives focused on ocean biodiversity, food systems, and climate mitigation.
Application Method
- Submissions must be made by Friday, July 7, 2023, at 17.00 CEST (Brussels time), and addressed to partnerships@africaeuropefoundation.org.
- Please be aware that the timing and requirements of AEF cooperation agreements with foreign donors may affect the approval of certain grants.
